Brian has been hooked on racing ever since his father took him
to see the Indianapolis 500
when
he was 15 years old. After graduating from high school, he began racing at the local drag
strip.
After getting his degree in
computer programming, he spent several years on the
business side
working for
several of the “big names” in
racing, developing internet- based applications for
their fan clubs.
He has been working at the race track since 1995 as a Pit Marshal
and is
currently the OVR-SCCA Chief of Pits and the NASA Great
Lakes/Midwest Operating Steward.
Brian also has been serving as a
driving coach for several Vintage Sports Car Drivers
Association (VSCDA) drivers .
In 2000, Brian decided that he needed to get back behind the wheel and he started competing
in autocross
events with the
local SCCA region. His first year of autocross he finished 6th in
the season
points. He competed in
the autocross events for 2 more years, finishing 5th in
the points in 2001 and 3rd in 2002.
Brian started on track
events during 2003 with the National Auto Sport Association
(NASA), running
in their HPDE program. By the time that August came around, he wanted
to go wheel to wheel so
he started
competing in the NASA TT program. He won the NASA Midwest TTB championship in
2004, the first full year of competition. He proceeded
to tie for the NASA TTB
championship
points for 2005, officially finishing 2nd because he lost the tiebreaker by having fewer
wins.
In 2006, he again competed in NASA TT and started racing NASA’s Spec Miata class. He
finished
2nd in the 2006 TTB championship and, even though he missed 6
races, he finished
8th in the Spec Miata class out of 46
competitors. In 2008, Brian finished 5th in the
NASA Great Lakes Region Spec
Miata class out of over 50 competitors.
After getting the oportunity to
compete with Grand Am in 2007, Brian started racing in the Grand-Am
KONI Challenge Series. He raced a Supercharged Chevy Cobalt SS in 2007
and he started the
2008 season
racing a Dodge SRT-4 at Daytona International Speedway in January and then
went
back behind the wheel of the Chevy
Cobalt SS for the Mid-Ohio event. Brian starts the 2009
Grand-Am KONI Sports Car Challenge season
driving the #16 Meyer Motorsports Mazda
RX-8.
